16 Hours in Hong Kong
Toronto is really far away from Hong Kong. Specifically the two cities are 7,810 km from one another, so when you make the effort to fly all the way over there it would make sense to take the time to explore the city and take in the culture, but that isn't always the case. Caroline and I recently had a short stop over in Hong Kong while on route to Vietnam. We had a 16 hour lay over and wanted to make the best of our time. Luckily for us, our friend Denise was home for the holidays, and thanks to her local knowledge we were able to pack a lot into our 16 hours. I took a bunch of photos throughout the whirlwind day but in the end I've chosen six photos that I think best represent my first Hong Kong experience. Note - not photographed is the many meals, and the drunken karaoke at an hour that you might judge me for, but when you get off a 15hr flight and run around a new city all day I think anything goes.
Since we arrived first thing in the morning we got on the subway and head The Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple. This Taoist shrine is considered a source of luck - I'll take it.
The weather was dark and rainy but it didn't seem to matter, we were just happy to be there.
We spent most of our time exploring the many streets and neighbourhoods.
It's a busy place.
And a damn big city. Until next time Hong Kong, there is so much still left to explore.
